Chelsea appoints new Director of Sales

Gary Pickering replaces Marilyn Corke.

Earlier in the year it was announced that Marilyn Corke, Director of Sales at Chelsea Building Society would be retiring at the end of 2008 after over 30 years’ service.

After a recruitment programme including internal and external candidates, Chelsea, the UK’s fifth largest building society is delighted to announce that Gary Pickering, previously Divisional Director (Branch Network) has now replaced Marilyn in the role.

Gary, who has been with Chelsea for over 13 years, has held several sales positions within the company including Business Development Manager, Branch Manager, Regional Manager and more latterly Divisional Director. Gary will be taking up his position at Chelsea’s Head Office in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire in October 2008.

Richard Hornbrook, director and chief executive at Chelsea said, ‘Gary has worked in our sales arm for 13 years and has a proven track record of achievement and success. I am delighted that he is now joining the senior executive team, where I am sure that he will make a difference. Gary will help drive the business forward by making sure that our front-line staff continue to provide the excellent service that our customers have come to expect.’

Commenting on his new position Gary Pickering said, ‘Having always worked in sales roles within Chelsea, I have gained a valuable insight into our ever changing market place and our customer’s needs. We already have very successful sales channels and I am looking forward to working with the senior management team to build and develop these further.

Gary, 35, is married with two children and lives in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire.
